We provide medical housing in the Boston area by matching out-of-town patients with host homes and donated apartments.
There are so many behind-the-scenes costs that make this work possible.
Your donations are necessary to help us:
- Do the work it takes to match guests with host homes and apartments.
- Vet all hosts and guests to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort.
- Manage all of the logistics to provide patients and their caregivers with a place to call home during treatment.
Hospitality Homes offers four lodging types – volunteer host homes, donated apartments, discounted short-term rentals, and discounted hotel stays. A key feature of our program is the diligence we demonstrate in matching patients with appropriate accommodations. We provide all of our guests with the best housing option based on their medical needs, logistics and availability, at no cost or low cost to them. Regardless of accommodation type, all guests receive a comfortable place to sleep and the support from the compassionate volunteers and staff to help manage their stay.

- Each month, Hospitality Homes is able to replace an average retail value of $175K /month worth of housing and support that families could not otherwise afford.
- Traditional housing costs $250 or more/night — that’s an average of $3,500 per visit.
- $2,000 enables us to recruit and evaluate the homes of 10 potential hosts
- $1,500 provides application review, detailed evaluation, and the full process of making the right match for 8 patients and their caregivers

Martin has congenital heart disease and has had three open heart surgeries at Boston Children’s Hospital. They’ve stayed with Hospitality Homes six times with three different hosts.

People travel from all over the world to receive cutting-edge treatment at Boston’s medical centers. Many of these families have already organized fundraisers to pay for travel, lost wages, and all the expenses that come with a medical emergency.
